Jharkhand Governor and Chief Minister Express Condolences for Folk Singer Sharda Sinha's Passing
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed their sorrow over the passing of renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha. Known affectionately as Bihar Kokila, Sinha passed away at 72 while receiving treatment at AIIMS Delhi. Her death marks a significant loss for Indian folk music, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Gangwar shared his condolences on X, stating, "The news of the demise of Padma Bhushan folk singer Sharda Sinha ji is extremely sad. With her demise, Indian folk music has lost a precious gem. Her contribution to Indian music and folk singing will always be unforgettable. Deepest condolences to her family and countless fans in this difficult time."

Soren also took to X, expressing his grief over the loss of Swar Kokila Sharda Sinha. He highlighted her role in bringing festivals like Chhath to life through her music. Soren remarked that her passing is an irreplaceable loss for the nation and hoped for peace for her soul and strength for her family during this challenging period.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das joined in mourning Sinha's death, praising the unique devotion and cultural essence in her songs. Das recalled meeting Sinha in Jamshedpur in 2002 and being captivated by her simplicity and the sweetness of her music. He noted that her contributions to music and society are irreplaceable.
