This will lead to a good life...That time (in the past) was such that there were some compulsions due to which we had to take people at gunpoint. This is not that era. I have been living peacefully since 2004...I believe in democracy...People can live as they want - they can sport a beard, wear a cap, salwar-kameez, sport a braid...I would like to tell the youth to leave that path and come to the mainstream, form your government and live in peace..."

BJP candidate from #Budhal Assembly seat Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali says "The development of the region and unemployment are among the major issues here. The region has not seen much development in the last 70-72 years. Regional political parties were involved in region-specific politics. They took votes and worked for specific regions, people were upset with that. It is because of this people are coming out to vote in such large numbers. People have lot of hope with the Modi government and we expect that double-engine government will be formed."

Addressing a sea of supporters in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, said, “In the history of India, after 1947 several UTs were turned into states. States were divided – Telangana was formed out of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand was formed out of Bihar, Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. But for the first time after independence, a state was turned into a UT. This was done to Jammu & Kashmir. This is an injustice to you. Your democratic rights have been snatched away from you. Today J&K, is not run by the people of J&K, it is run by the people of other states. We had thought that you would get back the statehood before elections. That would have been the correct way…But it is fine that they are conducting elections first. But we want your democratic rights, the statehood of J&K is given back to you.”
