Jammu and Kashmir Election Results 2024 Full List Of Winners For 90 Constituencies
As the counting of votes proceeds in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory finds itself at a crucial juncture in its political history.
The 2024 Assembly Elections represent a significant milestone, being the first since the revocation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the former state into two union territories: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. With 90 Assembly seats at stake, the stakes are incredibly high as voters gear up to redefine the political landscape.

According to early trends, Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, is leading in both Ganderbal and Budgam. The Congress-NC alliance has surpassed the majority mark of 46 seats.
However, prominent candidates like Iltija Mufti, contesting from Bijbehara, and Sajjad Lone from Handwara, are currently trailing.
The Jammu and Kashmir assembly comprises 90 seats, following recent delimitation, with the Jammu region having slightly greater representation than the Kashmir Valley. In these elections, the Congress partnered with the National Conference (NC) to contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) decided to run independently.
Current Tally from the Election Commission
As of 9:30 AM on October 8, the Election Commission of India (ECI) reports the following standings:
- Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKN): 30 seats
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 18 seats
- Independent (IND): 6 seats
These elections mark the first assembly polls in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 and the first assembly election in a decade. Voting took place in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with a total voter turnout of 63.45%. The breakdown of voter turnout was 61% for the first phase, 57.3% for the second, and 68.72% for the third.
Exit Poll Predictions
Several exit poll projections from Saturday indicated that the National Conference-Congress alliance was in a strong position, with estimates suggesting they might secure a majority of the seats. According to The People Pulse survey, the NC-Congress alliance could win between 46 and 50 seats, while the BJP might claim 23 to 27 seats, and the PDP could take 7 to 11 seats, with other parties potentially winning 4 to 6 seats. Another exit poll from Axis My India predicted a hung assembly, forecasting 35 to 45 seats for the NC-Congress alliance and 24 to 34 for the BJP. Meanwhile, Gulistan News on Republic TV projected 28 to 30 seats for the NC, 3 to 6 for the Congress, 5 to 7 for the PDP, and 8 to 16 for other parties and independents.
Notably, the exit polls suggest that no single party is expected to surpass the crucial 46-seat mark needed to form a government in the Union Territory. Today's results will reveal how accurately the pollsters predicted the outcomes of the Jammu and Kashmir elections this time.
