Bihar Hospital Fire: At Least 10 Feared Dead, Many Injured In Accident

In a tragic incident, at least 10 people are feared dead after a fire broke out at a hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur on Thursday.

Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen has confirmed three deaths while indicating that 10 people might have lost lives in the incident. However, several patients have been rescued and shifted to other facilities.

Speaking to PTI, DM Subrata Kumar Sen said, "A total of 15 patients were admitted at the facility, and we have so far obtained records for 13 of them. Some patients were also being treated in the CCU. They have now been shifted and admitted to nearby hospitals. We have recorded statements from their family members as well. We are verifying every piece of information that comes to us. As of now, three deaths have been officially confirmed. We have seen the bodies, and the Civil Surgeon has also confirmed the fatalities."

It is suspected the fire accident might have caused due to short circuit. He added, "Our priority is to conduct a thorough investigation. A dedicated team will be constituted to examine how exactly this incident occurred, and all further action will be taken in accordance with the law. At first glance, the incident appears to have been caused by a short circuit. However, the exact cause can only be determined after a detailed investigation."

A police officer has told CNN News that nearly 10 to 15 people are believed to have been killed in the fire which was caused by a short circuit. He also says that the information about the incident was first received at 3.55 am.
