J&K poll: Officials dispatched to polling stations in Udhampur district
Udhampur, Dec 1: Officials were dispatched to respective polling stations in Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar constituencies of Udhampur district on Monday ahead of the the second phase of the assembly election scheduled on Tuesday. [J&K assembly election 2014 schedule]
The polling officials were dispatched from the Government Degree College, Women College and District Police line in Udhampur and District Election Officer Yasha Madgal supervised the process in the presence of general observers.[Historic turnout in Phase 1]
Security personnel were also dispatched to the three constituencies. Security personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police and central paramilitary forces were also deployed.
In 2008, Panthers Party's Balwant Singh Mankotia won from Udhampur by 2,770 votes while Congress's Krishan Chander won from Chenani by 6,438 votes. In Ramnagar, Panthers Party's Harsh Dev Singh won by 12,146 votes.
Eighteen seats will go to the election in phase 2.
