Jaishankar Engages in Comprehensive Discussions with German Leaders Amidst Strategic Partnership

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in comprehensive talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Friday. They discussed various regional and global matters. Jaishankar also had a productive dialogue with German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, who is also the Economic Affairs and Climate Action Minister. These discussions were part of the 7th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) meeting.

Jaishankar Meets German Leaders for Discussions

Jaishankar shared on X that the IGC meeting was successful. He posted pictures of his separate meetings with both Baerbock and Habeck. The German vice chancellor and foreign minister visited India as part of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's three-day official trip to the country. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chancellor Scholz co-chaired the seventh round of these consultations.

Strategic Partnership Deepens

"Delighted to meet FM @ABaerbock of Germany, after a successful IGC meeting earlier today. Held wide-ranging discussions on a number of regional and global issues. Our strategic partnership continues to deepen as it enters its 25th year," Jaishankar posted on X. This statement highlights the ongoing strengthening of ties between India and Germany.

In another post, Jaishankar mentioned his meeting with Vice Chancellor Habeck. "A good conversation with German Vice Chancellor and Economic Affairs and Climate Action Minister Robert Habeck. Exchanged views on contemporary global challenges, both strategic and economic," he wrote on the social media platform.

Commitment to Strengthen Ties

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a joint statement after the IGC meeting. In it, Modi and Scholz reaffirmed their dedication to expanding and deepening the Indo-German Strategic Partnership. This commitment underscores the importance both nations place on their bilateral relationship.

The discussions between Jaishankar, Baerbock, and Habeck reflect a shared interest in addressing global challenges together. As India and Germany mark 25 years of strategic partnership, these meetings highlight their mutual commitment to collaboration on various fronts.

The visit by German officials signifies an ongoing effort to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two countries. The focus remains on enhancing cooperation in areas such as economic affairs, climate action, and addressing strategic challenges globally.
