J&K: Three soldiers killed after avalanche hits Machil Sector Army post


Three Army personnel lost their lives and one person was injured, after an avalanche hit an Army post in Kupwara's Machil Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

The officer identified the deceased as Havaldar Kamlesh Kumar, Niak Balbeer and Sepor Rajinder. All three hailed from Rajasthan.

The incident happened at around 4:30 pm at Sona Pandi Gali (SPG) in Machil along the Line of Control.

Jammu and Kashmir state administration on Wednesday had issued an avalanche warning for 48 hours in the hilly districts of the state after earthquake tremors were felt.

On January 6, eleven people died in an avalanche that had hit North Kashmir's Kupwara district.
