IS recruiter Afsha Jabeen's husband was in the dark

Hyderabad, Sept 16: Afsha Jabeen, the ill-famed IS recruiter from Hyderabad, feared exposure when the Hyderabad police arrested an engineer when he was on his way to join the ISIS.

Uncertain about the consequences, she confessed to her husband about her background. The 38-year old mother of three was deported by the UAE on Sept 11 for her links with the forbidden terror outfit.

She was arrested from Hyderabad immediately after she landed here.

According to the officials who interrogated her,"For the first time in the middle of this year, she told her husband Devender Kumar Batra, who converted to Islam to marry her, about her carefully built secret life as an Islamic State (IS) recruiter."

Jabeen confessed to her husband about Salman Mohiuddin (an electronic engineer in HYderabad) whom she met on Facebook 7 years ago. Jabeen also revealed how she used pseudo names like Nicky or Nicole Joseph, posing as a British national and luring the youth.

A home ministry official said,"When Afsha got to know about Salman's arrest, she was scared. She decided to disassociate from her secret life. She altogether left her virtual life and didn't use internet at all in Abu Dhabi after April."

Although she had cut herself off from the rest of the world, she was already in the radar of intelligenve agencies.

Her Facebook page had 50,000 followers in 2008 and she claims to have converted four Christians to Islam. However, it was shut down in 2009 as the site posted offensive material.
