Is PM Modi's Promise To Jharkhand Just Hot Air? Congress Demands Answers Ahead Of Elections!
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his campaign in Jharkhand, the Congress party has raised critical questions regarding his past commitments to the state's residents.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh outlined three key issues, urging the Prime Minister to address them before seeking votes in the upcoming assembly elections.

In a post on X, Ramesh highlighted Modi's previous promises to establish the Korba-Lohardaga and Chatra-Gaya railway lines, as well as to set up engineering and medical colleges in Jharkhand. He emphasized that the people of Lohardaga and Chatra have long awaited improved rail connectivity, which is vital for enhancing access to education and employment opportunities.
Ramesh criticized the Railway Ministry for its lack of progress on these crucial projects, noting that despite the sanctioning of the Chatra-Gaya rail project in October 2022, there has been no advancement in two years, and there are no updates regarding the Korba-Lohardaga line. He questioned how much longer the residents must wait for these essential rail links and whether the Prime Minister is taking any steps to ensure their completion.

1. Where is the Korba-Lohardaga and Chatra-Gaya railway lines?
The people of Lohardaga and Chatra have been demanding better rail connectivity for years as it would…
The Congress leader also recalled Modi's 2014 campaign promises to establish several industrial and educational institutions in Jharkhand, including a premier IT institution and multiple engineering colleges. Ramesh pointed out that only two institutions have been created-NIELET Ranchi and CIPET Khunti-and both lack permanent campuses even after nine and seven years, respectively. He contrasted this with the achievements of Dr Manmohan Singh's government, which successfully established high-quality institutions like IIM Ranchi and a Central University.
Additionally, Ramesh questioned the status of a promised medical college in Koderma, which Modi laid the foundation stone for in 2018. Despite promises to complete the project by 2019, there has been no tangible progress. He called out the Prime Minister for failing to deliver on his commitments, labelling the promises as mere "Modi ki Guarantee" from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
With assembly elections scheduled for November 13 and 20, the Congress party is seeking to hold the BJP accountable for its past pledges as the political landscape in Jharkhand intensifies.
