The Indonesian President, who attended India's 76th Republic Day celebrations as the Chief Guest, mentioned his recent genetic sequencing test. "A few weeks ago, I had my DNA test, and they told me that I have Indian DNA. Everyone knows when I hear Indian music, I start dancing," he quipped, bringing smiles to the audience. President Subianto delved into the rich historical and cultural ties between India and Indonesia. "India and Indonesia share a long, ancient history. Our civilizations are deeply connected, and even today, a significant part of our language is derived from Sanskrit. Many names in Indonesia are Sanskrit-based, and the influence of Indian civilization is embedded in our daily lives. I believe this connection runs in our genetics as well," he remarked, as per ANI reports.

The Indonesian President lauded PM Modi's leadership and his commitment to empowering marginalized communities. "I have learned a lot from Prime Minister Modi in just a few days. His dedication to alleviating poverty and helping the weakest sections of society is truly inspiring," he said.

President Subianto expressed pride in visiting India and wished the nation "prosperity, peace, and greatness." He also emphasized strengthening ties between India and Indonesia as close partners and friends.

Republic Day Celebrations and High-Level Delegation

The Indonesian President attended the Republic Day parade on Sunday, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and a business team from Indonesia, as reported by NDTV. One of the highlights of the event was the performance by the Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta, a 190-member ensemble band from the Indonesian Military Academy. The band symbolized discipline and the strong military traditions of Indonesia.

Agreements to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

During his three-day visit, India and Indonesia signed and renewed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in various fields, including health, traditional medicine, and maritime security. These agreements aim to deepen the partnership between the two nations and foster mutual development.

President Subianto's remarks and his active participation in the Republic Day celebrations underscored the warm and enduring friendship between India and Indonesia, rooted in shared history and a vision for a prosperous future, as per media reports.
