Indo-US Defence Partnership Strengthens as US Ambassador Sergio Gor Visits Indian Army Headquarters

During a visit to India's Western Command, US Ambassador Sergio Gor affirmed the strengthening Indo-US defence partnership, highlighting its importance for regional security and stability.

US Ambassador Sergio Gor and Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, visited the Indian Army's Western Command headquarters on Monday. They engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar about strategic security dynamics along India's Western Front. Gor emphasised that the US-India defence partnership is strengthening, highlighting the importance of joint efforts for a secure Indo-Pacific region.

The Western Command headquarters, located in Chandimandir, Haryana, hosted the delegation. They received a comprehensive briefing on the Western Front's perspective, covering operational readiness, historical significance, and the execution of Operation Sindoor. The Indian Army's role in nation-building and regional stability was also discussed during their visit.

Strengthening Defence Ties

Admiral Paparo noted that the India-US defence partnership is on a steep upward trajectory. He mentioned plans to further enhance defence and military ties, particularly in the maritime domain. This collaboration aims to maintain peace through strength, reflecting a unity of purpose between the two nations.

In a post on X, Gor expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar. He reiterated that joint efforts are crucial for a safe Indo-Pacific. "The US-India defence partnership continues to grow stronger," he stated.

Operational Preparedness and Legacy

The delegation's visit included discussions on operational preparedness and the distinguished legacy of the Western Command. The execution of Operation Sindoor was highlighted as a significant achievement. Admiral Paparo praised the Indian military for its restraint during this operation.

Admiral Paparo shared insights with journalists in New Delhi on Sunday. He highlighted the convergence of interests between India and the United States. Both countries are keen on bolstering their defence ties further, especially focusing on maritime cooperation.
