IndiGo Mumbai-Guwahati Flight Diverted to Dhaka Due to Low Visibility In Guwahati

Due to dense fog around the destination airport in Guwahati, a flight bound for Guwahati from Mumbai was compelled to make an emergency landing in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, as reported by officials on Saturday (January 13).

Officials stated, "Flight 6E 5319, en route from Mumbai to Guwahati, was unable to land in Guwahati due to the thick fog. Consequently, it diverted and landed in Dhaka."

Currently, all passengers remain onboard the plane at Dhaka airport without their passports.

IndiGo, the airline operating the flight, provided an update stating, "IndiGo flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati was diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh, due to bad weather in Assam's Guwahati. Due to operational reasons, an alternate set of crew is being arranged to operate the flight from Dhaka to Guwahati. The passengers were kept informed of updates and were served with refreshments on board."

Meanwhile, Delhi experienced its coldest morning of the winter season, with the minimum temperature dropping to 3.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Dense fog disrupted train operations in the city. The weather department issued a red alert for Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana on Saturday due to the prevailing cold wave conditions, with an orange alert extended to Sunday.

The department also forecasted that dense fog and the ongoing cold wave conditions are expected to persist in parts of northwest India for the next three to four days until January 16.
