Incessant rains trigger landslide in Manipur, vehicles stranded
The landslide which occurred today at Makhan area in Senapati district damaged 80-feet of the Imphal-Dimapur NH-39, a senior police officer said.
Imphal, August 26: Imphal-Dimapur National Highway closed after major landslide near Imphal's Makhan. Incessant rainfall since last night triggered the landslide on NH 39 cutting off the lifeline of the state.

The landslide which occurred today at Makhan area in Senapati district damaged 80-feet of the Imphal-Dimapur NH-39, a senior police officer said.
Dozens of trucks bringing essential commodities from Nagaland and those heading towards Assam from here have been stranded due to the landslide.
In addition, torrential rains caused flash floods in several parts of Imphal town and other low-lying areas disrupting traffic. Water levels of important rivers have also increased.
Over 30,000 people were rendered homeless in the state due to recently affected by floods which had inundated arable land.
