IIM Ahmedabad Announces MBA Admissions For 2024-2026: Here’s What You Need To Know

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has provided details about the admission process for its prestigious two-year full-time MBA programme. The process involves the Common Admission Test (CAT) for domestic candidates and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for overseas Indian applicants and foreign nationals. Following the tests, candidates will also need to complete an analytical writing test and attend personal interviews, according to a Hindustan Times report.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) or its equivalent grade. The bachelor's degree course should last for three years, completed after higher secondary schooling. Candidates who are in their final year of study or awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Such candidates must submit a certificate from the head of their current institution confirming their status, along with their latest grades. If selected, they will be given provisional admission until they submit their degree certificates and mark sheets.

Selection Process

For Indian candidates, the preliminary selection will be based on their CAT 2024 scores. The cut-off percentiles for various categories are as follows:

General/EWS: Minimum 70 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 80 percentile overall.
NC-OBC/Transgender: Minimum 65 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 75 percentile overall.
SC: Minimum 60 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 70 percentile overall.
ST: Minimum 50 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 60 percentile overall.
PwD (General/EWS/NC-OBC/Transgender/SC): Minimum 60 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 70 percentile overall.
ST-PwD: Minimum 50 percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA, and 60 percentile overall.

In addition to CAT scores, the selection process will include the application rating (AR) score, which is calculated from five factors: performance in Class 10, Class 12, the degree programme, work experience, and gender diversity. A gender diversity score of 2 is given to female candidates, transgender candidates, and others, while male candidates receive a score of 0.
