Every year on October 8, India celebrates Indian Air Force Day to pay tribute to the servicemen and pilots who have laid down their lives for the country, as well as to mark the founding of the Indian Air Force.

The Indian Air Force was formed on October 8, 1932, during British rule as a support force. In the beginning, it had only a small number of aircraft and personnel.

The first official flight of the Indian Air Force happened on April 1, 1933, marking the start of its operations. Over the years, the IAF has grown into one of the most powerful air forces in the world.
