'I Was About To Meet Chandrababu Naidu...': Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth on Sunday said that he wanted to meet TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, but due to his other commitment, he could not call on the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

"I was about to meet former Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu but due to family function it didn't happen," he told the reporters on Sunday.

Earlier, reports claimed that Rajinikanth was going to visit Rajahmundry to meet Naidu in Rajamahendravaram Central Prison. It was said that the Tamil superstar had spoken to Nara Lokesh and offered words of encouragment following his father's arrest.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody for his alleged role in a multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam.

He was arrested on September 9 in connection with a case involving misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to a loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state government.

Naidu has been a Z-plus category security protectee for several years already, with a team of NSG commandos guarding him always.

On the other hand, Naidu has filed two bail petitions, interim and regular, in a Vijayawada court.

In the interim bail petition, Naidu denied all the allegations levelled against him and claimed that there was no prima facie evidence on record against him.

"We have filed two petitions, one is for interim bail and another for regular bail. However, the hearing may not be done today (Friday)," advocate G Subba Rao, a member of Naidu's legal team, told PTI.
