HPEMC's Key Role in Energy Trading and Maximising Revenue for Himachal Pradesh

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasises the importance of HPEMC in energy trading to maximise revenue and ensure efficient power procurement for Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Energy Management Centre (HPEMC) on Thursday. He instructed officials to devise a strategy for power procurement as winter approaches. The water flow in rivers decreases during this season due to snowfall in higher altitudes, necessitating early planning to ensure a continuous and cost-effective power supply.

The HPEMC has been set up to efficiently manage electricity transactions, aiming to boost the state's revenue while reducing power purchase expenses. Sukhu highlighted that the centre is crucial for energy trading and securing financial benefits for Himachal Pradesh. He stressed the importance of professionalism in its operations to maximise returns and maintain transparency.

Green Energy Goals

The current Congress administration, in its initial budget, aimed to transform Himachal Pradesh into a Green Energy State by March 31, 2026. Sukhu mentioned that ongoing efforts are being made to meet this target. The government is dedicated to providing all necessary support to enhance the organisation's efficiency and strengthen its operations.

Sukhu reiterated the government's commitment to bolstering the HPEMC's capabilities. This includes ensuring it functions at a high level of professionalism to achieve optimal financial outcomes and operational transparency. The centre's role in energy trading is pivotal for the state's economic benefits.

By focusing on these initiatives, the state aims to secure a stable power supply during winter months. This approach not only addresses immediate needs but also aligns with long-term goals of sustainable energy management and economic growth.
