How India Thwarted Foreign Plots To Prevent A Bangladesh-Style Collapse—The Untold Story!
India has successfully averted a Bangladesh-like situation by warding off foreign interventions that aimed to destabilise the nation. The Indian government's proactive measures have ensured that the country remains a safe haven for democratic values, despite attempts by external forces to incite unrest.
The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, recently announced the formation of a committee led by the ADG of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Eastern Command of the Indian Army to monitor the situation along the India-Bangladesh border. This committee will work closely with counterparts in Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Indian nationals, Hindus, and other minority communities residing in the troubled country.

Experts have weighed in on India's success in handling these challenges. Abhijit Aiyer Mitra, a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), credits India's robust foreign policy and stringent regulation of foreign NGO funding for averting potential damage. He highlights that groups like Omidyar and Hindenburg have been deliberately critical of India due to their vested interests, but the government's strong stance has prevented them from causing significant harm.
Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, an expert on foreign policy and political economy, points out that Hindus in Bangladesh have faced targeted attacks since 1971, with both political and religious motivations. He draws parallels between the systematic targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh and the tactics used by the Pakistani army during the 1971 genocide, where the Bengali intellectual class was deliberately eradicated. The recent unrest in Bangladesh, fueled by these historical grievances, has only added to the volatility in the region.
India's ability to navigate these challenges with ease has been evident in recent controversies, such as the protests against the farm laws. Despite attempts by international figures like Greta Thunberg and Rihanna to influence the narrative, the Indian government remained steadfast, emerging stronger and more resilient. Many agree that with Prime Minister Modi at the helm, India has solidified its position as a global power, committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring national security.
