How BJP's Manifesto's Changed Between 2014 And 2024, And Why That May Affect Elections
As the election results are being announced, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems nowhere close to realising their slogan of 'Chaar so paar, Modi sarkaar', aiming to get more than 400 seats.

As of now, and even during exit poll results, while their numbers show signs of crossing 400 with the support of the NDA alliance, the situation is still dicey. Why is their popularity with the people of India not as strong as they envisioned? Some of the reasons can be gathered from looking at their past campaigns' Manifestos
Promises And Goals Of BJP's 2014 Manifesto:
In 2014, BJP's manifesto tackled the issue of corruption and unreliability in the Union government at the time, stating, "Corruption is a manifestation of poor Governance. Moreover, it reflects the bad intentions of those sitting in power. All pervasive corruption under the Congress-led UPA has become a 'National Crisis'. We will establish a system, which eliminates the scope for corruption."
They further wrote, "The biggest challenge that India faces today is to restore the credibility of, and trust in the Union Government. In recent years, the Union Government has lost every semblance of credibility. Its intentions, integrity and initiatives, all are questionable." They finished that segment of the manifesto by stating that a chain of responsibility and accountability will be built into the system.
Promises And Goals Of BJP's 2024 Manifesto:
In 2024, their manifesto didn't challenge any great problem plaguing the nation, instead focusing their message around, "Modi Ki Guarantee" as a means of supporting the many different vulnerable groups in the nation like poor families, farmers, fishermen, and senior citizens.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made the promise, "In the next five years, we will take our nation into the top 3 economies of the world, launch a final and decisive assault against poverty, open up newer avenues of growth in various sectors, further intensify our battle against corruption, unveil the next generation of reforms, and take a number of pro-people decisions and actions. Our Sankalp Patra is more than just a collection of promises. This Sankalp Patra outlines the collective aspirations and goals of our nation, by our nation and for our nation. As you have seen in the last ten years, it is Modi's Guarantee that every promise made is fulfilled."
The new manifesto, while promising the betterment of the nation, doesn't talk about anything concrete beyond continuing what they've already been doing for the past 10 years. Perhaps their inability to tackle other issues of the nation is what caused their popularity to not be as high as they imagined.
