Uttar Pradesh Ensures Clean Tap Water Access for Households in Over 24,000 Villages

In Uttar Pradesh, households in 24,576 villages now have complete access to clean tap water, as per an official statement. This initiative has provided nearly 4.86 crore villagers with clean drinking water through 79,44,896 new connections. The Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department is leading this effort to ensure safe drinking water reaches every rural household in the state.

Clean Tap Water Access in Uttar Pradesh Villages

Mirzapur district is at the forefront of this initiative, with 1,769 villages fully covered. Following Mirzapur, Gorakhpur has achieved full coverage in 1,372 villages. Kushinagar has reached 693 villages, while Hardoi and Prayagraj have covered 651 and 639 villages respectively. Lalitpur has 603 fully covered villages.

Employment Opportunities in Villages

The initiative is not only about providing clean water but also creating jobs in these villages. In each of the 24,576 villages, five women are involved in facilitating household tap connections (FHTC). Additionally, 13 individuals are being trained and employed as plumbers, fitters, and electricians.

This effort is generating livelihood opportunities for 18 people per village, benefiting thousands across the state. Ghazipur has achieved full coverage in 579 villages, Deoria in 574 villages, Shahjahanpur in 567 villages, and Basti completes the top ten with 553 villages.

Progress Across Districts

The Rural Water Supply and Namami Gange Department continues to spearhead this mission. Beyond providing clean water access, they are also focusing on employment generation within these communities. This dual approach ensures both health benefits and economic upliftment for rural households.

The statement highlighted that this initiative is transforming lives by ensuring access to clean water and creating job opportunities. The department's efforts are paving the way for sustainable development across Uttar Pradesh's rural areas.

The progress made so far indicates a significant step towards improving living conditions in these regions. The focus remains on expanding coverage and enhancing the quality of life for villagers through continued efforts.
