History-Sheeters Collaborate with Rachakonda Police for Traffic Management in Hyderabad

The Rachakonda Police have engaged 70 history-sheeters to assist in traffic regulation and educate the public about violations. This initiative aims to support their reintegration into society while enhancing road safety in Hyderabad.

The Rachakonda Police has initiated a unique programme involving 70 individuals with criminal records to assist in managing traffic. On Wednesday, these individuals helped regulate traffic, guided commuters, and educated the public on traffic violations at various city junctions. They worked alongside volunteers and traffic constables, marking a shift towards societal reintegration.

In a post on X, the Rachakonda Police highlighted this reform-focused initiative. They engaged history-sheeters in traffic management at key junctions. This effort aims to help them transition into responsible societal roles. The Rachakonda Police Commissionerate maintains 3,017 history sheets, including 745 rowdy sheets and 2,138 suspect sheets.

Reformative Approach in Policing

Traditionally, history-sheeters are monitored through various methods like frequent checks and regular counselling. However, the Rachakonda police have adopted an innovative approach by involving them in community-benefiting activities. This method aims to reform these individuals by gaining their confidence and encouraging positive contributions to society.

The history-sheeters expressed happiness and pride in this opportunity. They reported feeling a renewed sense of purpose by serving citizens rather than facing community stigma for past actions. This exercise represents a modern reform strategy to engage those under police watch in beneficial activities.

Future Plans for Reform Measures

The Rachakonda police are planning to include other individuals under surveillance in similar reform measures. This initiative is part of a broader effort to bring about societal change, according to Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu. The Rachakonda Police Commissionerate is one of three in Greater Hyderabad.

This initiative not only aids in traffic management but also serves as a step towards rehabilitating individuals with criminal backgrounds. By involving them in constructive roles, the police aim to foster a sense of responsibility and community integration among these individuals.
