Haryana Polls: Independent MLA Sombir Sangwan Joins Congress, Says Nayab Singh Saini Doesn't Deserve CM's Post

Independent MLA from Charkhi Dadri, Sombir Sangwan on Thursday joined Congress. Soon after accepting membership of the grand old party, Sombir Sangwan came out heavily on Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Speaking to the media, new Congress member said Nayab Saini is not fit even to be the state party president, let alone the Chief Minister. He also predicted a mass exodus of BJP and JJP MLAs in the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections, underlining that Congress will continue performing well just like Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Political Shifts in Haryana

Sombir Sangwan

Sangwan asserted that many Haryana BJP MLAs are discontented and will switch to Congress post-elections. He believes this shift will significantly boost Congress's standing in the state. "The graph of Congress will rise in Haryana," he stated confidently.

Reflecting on his time with BJP, Sangwan mentioned he did not benefit during his four-and-a-half-year tenure. He withdrew support from BJP two years ago and resigned from his chairmanship amid farmers' and players' movements. He emphasised there was no pressure or greed involved in his decisions.

Criticism of Current Leadership

Sangwan took a jab at CM Naib Saini, questioning his capability even as a state president. He accused BJP MLAs of being solely devoted to Manohar Lal, ignoring societal welfare. According to him, corruption has surged under BJP's rule, benefiting only the officers.

He also accused BJP of deceiving independent MLAs with false promises and keeping them uninformed. Sangwan declared that if Congress brings a no-confidence motion, he would be the first to vote in favour. He believes the current Haryana government is now in minority and urged the CM to resign on moral grounds.

Future Political Plans

Sangwan expressed readiness to contest from Charkhi Dadri in the upcoming assembly elections if Congress wishes. Otherwise, he pledged support for any candidate the party fields. His statements reflect growing unrest within Haryana's political landscape.

The situation in Haryana appears volatile with potential shifts in political alliances post-Lok Sabha elections. Sangwan's move to Congress signals significant changes ahead for both parties involved.
