Haryana Poll Results: Funny Memes Flood Internet As BJP Is Ahead Of Congress

The BJP and Congress were locked in a tight battle in Haryana on Tuesday, with the Election Commission's website indicating a close contest as vote counting progressed. After two hours of counting, the BJP held a slight lead over Congress.

As per Election Commission trends at 10 am, the BJP was leading in 43 constituencies, while Congress was ahead in 34. This marked the first time the ruling party overtook Congress since the vote counting began at 8 am.

Counting is underway for all 90 assembly seats across 93 centers in 22 districts of Haryana, under heavy security. The BJP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while Congress is seeking a comeback after 10 years.

Meanwhile, the INLD and independent candidates were each leading in one seat, according to the latest EC trends.

Earlier, the Congress led in 18 seats and the BJP in 14. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was ahead in Ladwa (Kurukshetra district) by 732 votes, while former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had a commanding lead of 11,099 votes in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi (Rohtak district).

In Jind's Julana seat, Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat was trailing by 2,039 votes. Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that three-tier security was in place at counting centers.

Agarwal also noted that postal ballots were counted first, followed by the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Despite exit polls predicting a Congress victory, the BJP remains confident of securing a third consecutive term. The state saw a voter turnout of 67.90%.
