Haryana Exit Polls: Anil Vij Rejects Predictions of Congress' victory, Confident Of BJP's Win
After exit polls suggested a significant win for Congress in Haryana, BJP's Anil Vij dismissed these predictions. Vij, who is contesting from Ambala Cantt, stated that the BJP symbol, the lotus, will prevail in the state. He emphasised that ground realities differ from poll forecasts.
Vij spoke to reporters in Ambala, highlighting that exit poll results often don't reflect actual situations. "Exit poll ki pol pehle bhi khul chuki hai. The situation on the ground is different...The vote percentage in Bhupinder Singh Hooda's constituency reduced by 5%. In my constituency, it increased by 3%. This means that the public's support for Congress has decreased...AAP has no support in Haryana," he said.

Exit Poll Predictions
Several exit polls released after Haryana's single-phase voting indicated a potential Congress victory. These polls suggested Congress might secure over 58 seats in the 90-seat assembly. Axis My India projected Congress winning 59 seats, BJP 23 seats, and other parties 8 seats.
Vij further remarked that exit poll predictions aren't given much weight by his party. "We do not give much importance to exit poll predictions. If there is any talk, it will be on October 8 when the results are declared," he added.
Congress' Perspective
Bhupinder Singh Hooda of Congress attributed their anticipated success to their governance from 2005 to 2014 and criticised the BJP-led government from 2014 to 2024 for corruption and inefficiency. Hooda expressed gratitude towards voters for peaceful elections and reiterated his belief in Congress' return to power with a strong majority.
"I want to thank all the voters of Haryana for conducting peaceful elections. Exit polls came yesterday, but I have been saying this for a long time-that people have made up their minds to bring the Congress party to power with a huge majority. Congress was in power from 2005 to 2014, and people have seen our achievements. When BJP-JJP was in power from 2014 to 2024, people saw how they failed," Hooda stated earlier.
The political landscape in Haryana remains tense as both parties await the official results on October 8. The contrasting views between BJP and Congress highlight differing interpretations of voter sentiment and past governance records.
