Haryana church vandalised, cross replaced with Hanuman idol
Hisar, March 16: In yet another attack on a church, 14 people vandalised an under-construction structure and replaced the cross at the top with a Hanuman idol and a flag depicting Lord Rama.
Father Subhash Chand of Williwarsh Church lodged a complaint against 14 people, following which a complaint was lodged by the police under sections 147 (Punishment for rioting), 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295 (destroying, damaging a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons), 380 (theft in a building), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
Apart from the fragmentation complaint, he also alleged that a cooler and some items from the worship area were also stolen.
However, Hisar range deputy inspector general (DIG) Saurabh Singh said that the situation was under control.
The Christian Front of Haryana has condemned the incident and has demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
