Gurugram abduction case: two children injured after Delhi–Lucknow highway crash, father rescued

Police say two children injured in a Bolero crash on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway were abducted from Gurugram. Superintendent of Police City Manush Pareek said the driver, Prince, disclosed the children and their father, Manoj, had been kidnapped after a dispute over a proposed marriage. Manoj was rescued; a case is registered at DLF Phase-1 police station.

Police said two children hurt in a deadly road crash were abducted from Gurugram. Police also traced and rescued the kidnapped father, an official said on Monday. The case surfaced after a Bolero vehicle crashed on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway. The accident happened in the CB Ganj area on Sunday.

Five people died and five others were injured in the crash, police said. The injured included the two children. Superintendent of Police City Manush Pareek said police questioned the driver, Prince, at length. Police found Prince could not explain the children’s presence. Further questioning later linked the crash victims to an abduction case.

Delhi-Lucknow National Highway accident linked to Gurugram abduction

Pareek said Prince disclosed that the children and their father, Manoj, were taken by force. Manoj works as an auto driver in Gurugram, police said. Officers then treated the case as kidnapping rather than only a traffic incident. Police said they started tracing the family’s last known movements and the suspects’ route.

Police said the abduction followed a dispute involving Manoj’s minor adopted daughter. Investigators said Manoj objected to accused Manmohan’s wish to marry the girl. Police linked this opposition to the kidnapping of Manoj and the two children from Gurugram. The suspects were later travelling with the victims, police said.

Gurugram police case and DLF Phase-1 police station complaint details

A case had already been registered at DLF Phase-1 police station, police said. The complaint was filed by Manoj’s wife. Police said this earlier report helped verify identities after the crash. Officers also checked details shared during questioning against the Gurugram complaint. The match supported the kidnapping claim, police said.

Police said the accused were returning the children when the accident took place. Based on Prince’s information, police rescued Manoj from a house, officials said. The house belonged to Manmohan’s father, police said. Officials added that Manmohan was among those who died in the crash. Police then secured Manoj for safety.

Officials said Haryana Police was informed after Manoj was rescued. Further investigation will be carried out by Haryana Police, officials said. Police said the probe would cover the abduction, the dispute cited as the motive, and the events leading to the crash. The children’s injuries and other survivors’ conditions remained part of the inquiry.
