Golden Temple Receives Second Bomb Threat In 24 Hours, Security Stepped Up In Amritsar

Authorities are on high alert in Amritsar after the Golden Temple, one of India's most revered religious sites, received a second bomb threat in just 24 hours. The alarming development has prompted the deployment of additional security measures and intensified police activity around the shrine.

The latest threat follows a similar incident just a day earlier, when an email warning of a bomb at the Golden Temple sent shockwaves across the city. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages the temple, immediately filed a complaint with the police.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that an email threatening a blast had been received by SGPC officials. "We received a complaint from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) that they got an email threatening a blast in the Golden Temple. We are taking help from the state cybercrime unit and other agencies," he said.

Commissioner Bhullar assured the public that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness. "We are hopeful that we will crack the case soon. There is no reason to panic. We are ensuring foolproof security," he stated.

In response to the threats, the local administration has ramped up security at the Golden Temple complex. Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), SGPC task force members, and additional security personnel have been deployed to secure the premises and protect visiting devotees.

Authorities have also urged the public to remain calm and vigilant. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately. An FIR has been filed, and the investigation is actively underway.

The Golden Temple, located in the heart of Amritsar, Punjab, remains a major site for pilgrimage, religious worship, and tourism, attracting lakhs of visitors each year.
