Ghaziabad police encounter: Second accused in Salim Wastik attack dies during treatment

Uttar Pradesh Police said the second accused in the attack on YouTuber Salim Ahmed, known as Salim Wastik, died during treatment after being injured in a Ghaziabad police encounter. Police said the suspect, Gulfaam, was wanted in the Loni area case and carried a Rs 1 lakh reward. Firearms and a stolen two-wheeler were recovered.

Uttar Pradesh Police said Gulfaam, the second accused in the attack on YouTuber Salim Ahmed alias Salim Wastik, died during treatment. Police said Gulfaam was hurt in a police encounter in Ghaziabad on Tuesday. Gulfaam carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh, officials said. The encounter took place in the Indirapuram area in the evening.

Additional Director General STF and Law and Order Amitabh Yash said Gulfaam was sent to hospital after being injured. Police later confirmed Gulfaam’s death. The first accused, Zeeshan, also had a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Police said Zeeshan was killed in a separate encounter on March 1.

Ghaziabad police encounter in Salim Wastik case

In a post on X, the police said, The final stop in the journey of crime. The notorious criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh and wanted in connection with the murderous attack on Salim Wastik alias Vastavik in the Loni police station area, was arrested in an injured condition during a police encounter by Ghaziabad police.He was declared dead by doctors during treatment.

Police said two illegal firearms and one two-wheeler stolen from Delhi were found with Gulfaam. The police post also repeated the recovery details. Officials said the two-wheeler was stolen from Delhi. Police did not share further details on where the firearms were sourced.

Salim Wastik attack in Loni and FIR details

Police said the attack happened on February 26, 2026, at around 8 am. Two persons allegedly used sharp-edged weapons at Salim Wastik’s office. The incident took place in the Loni police station area. Police said Salim Wastik was seriously injured and remained under hospital treatment.

Police identified the victim as Ahmed, 50. Ahmed runs a YouTube channel under the name Salim Wastik. Ahmed describes himself as an Ex-Muslim. Police said two helmeted attackers came on a bike. Police said the assault took place in the Ali Garden area of Loni.

An FIR was registered after a complaint by Ahmed’s son, Usman. The complaint named seven individuals, police said. Investigators formed several teams to trace those involved. Police said they were checking different angles. These included personal enmity and ideological differences.

Police said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to act strictly in the matter. The Chief Minister said those who disturb law and order would not be spared. Police said further legal proceedings were underway. Officials have not given a timeline for the next steps in the case.
