K T Rama Rao Vows to Legally Challenge Allegations Over Formula-E Race Conducted in Telangana
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has approved legal proceedings against K T Rama Rao, a BRS leader and MLA, concerning alleged irregularities during the previous BRS regime related to the Formula-E race. In response, Rama Rao stated he would address the charges legally. On X, he criticised the state's Congress government for failing to secure central funds while focusing on filing cases. "Will face you legally. Bring it on," he declared.

Rama Rao, speaking at a BRS meeting on Tuesday evening, expressed his willingness to discuss these allegations in the Legislative Assembly's ongoing winter session. He emphasised the need for a debate on public issues first. These include the Congress government's six poll guarantees and challenges faced by farmers, auto drivers, and handloom workers. Only then should the allegations against the BRS government be addressed.
Formula-E Race Controversy
The Telangana government had previously sought permission from the governor in November to file an FIR against Rama Rao over these alleged irregularities. Official sources indicated that with the governor's approval, the law would proceed accordingly. The state's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is set to investigate the matter further.
Rama Rao, who served as Municipal Administration Minister during the last BRS regime, played a key role in organising the Formula-E race in Hyderabad last year. Although another race was planned for February this year, it was cancelled after the Congress government took office in December 2023.
Assembly Debate Proposal
During his speech at the BRS meeting, Rama Rao challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to allow a debate in the Assembly regarding these accusations. "You CM Revanth Reddy are saying scams. Let there be a debate in Assembly. I will reply in Assembly. You are saying this formula, that formula. Any formula, let it be discussed there," he remarked.
The controversy surrounding the Formula-E race has sparked significant political tension in Telangana. As legal proceedings unfold, both parties are preparing for heated discussions within the Legislative Assembly.
This situation highlights ongoing political rivalries and governance challenges in Telangana as leaders navigate complex issues affecting their constituents.
