The building, located opposite the old Police Headquarters, which still houses some police units, was the site of the incident. Videos circulating on social media show occupants taking shelter on the window ledge to escape the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Earlier on Sunday, at least seven people were injured in a blast and a massive fire in a chemical factory in Delhi's Bawana area. Police said the condition of three of the injured was critical, as reported by Hindustan Times.
"All of them have been referred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment. The other injured people, identified as Suresh, Rakesh, Pankaj Pal, and Ghan Shyam, are undergoing treatment at the hospital," a police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
It was suggested by a preliminary investigation that the fire was caused by a spark from a short circuit, which led to the chemicals kept there catching fire.
