Farmers' Protest 2.0: Agitators To Move Towards Delhi On March 6, Nationwide ‘Rail Roko’ Called On March 10
Farmers' protest 2.0: After a break of almost two weeks, a time frame given to the government to find a solution and fulfill the demands of the farmers, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Sunday announced protesters camping at Punjab and Haryana's Shambhu border will move peacefully towards Delhi on March 6, 2024.
Dallewal added that a nationwide protest to stop trains, 'rail roko', will also be organized on March 10 from 12 PM to 4 PM.

"Our program to march to Delhi is as it is, we've not stepped back from it. It has been decided that we will increase our strength on the borders. On March 6, farmers will come to (Delhi) from all over the country by train, bus, and air and we will see whether the government will allow them to sit there or not. On March 10, we will hold a 'Rail Roko' protest across the country from 12 pm to 4 pm," he said.
Earlier, a scuffle between the farmers and Haryana Police-Rapid Action Force (RAF), which happened at the Shambhu border, made the headlines as a farmer lost his life following a pallet gun attack and tear gas shelling.
Many people suffered injuries including policemen in the scuffle between protesting farmers and security forces.
However, police had opened many routes heading to the national capital after farmers announced to halt their protest and wait for the outcome of fifth round of meetings between farmer leaders and government delegation comprising union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai.
"We were in the process of opening service lanes at Singhu and Tikri borders. Locals will not face problems while commuting," a senior police officer said.
But the deployment of police and paramilitary forces will ensure strict vigil round the clock, the officer added.
