Eid Milad 2023: Are Banks Closed For Muslim's Festival? Check State Wise Bank Holiday List

Banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad, which will be celebrated by the Muslim community.

It is a festival to celebrate the birth anniversary of the last Prophet of Islam Prophet Muhammad. Depending on the states, the banks will remain closed on September 27, 28 and 29.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes a monthly roster of bank holidays to ensure customers are not inconvenienced and can organize their banking activities accordingly.

Banks In These States Are Closed On These Days

  • September 27: Milad-i-Sherif: Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kerala.
  • September 28: Eid-E-Milad/Eid-e-Meeladunnabi: Banks will remain closed in Odisha, Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
  • September 29: Indrajatra/Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi: Banks will remain closed in Sikkim, and Jammu and Srinagar.

In addition to the above-mentioned holiday, the banks in Karnataka might remain closed on September 29 due to the bandh called by the pro-Kannada group to protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

However, it has to be noted that September has as many as 16 bank holidays including Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays in states across the country.
