EC cracks down on AIADMK, stops distribution of freebies

Chennai, March 5: Just after the Election Commission announced the election dates and the model code of conduct, it cracked its whip on Jayalalitha's

over election freebies. It has asked the party to stop distributing freebies like mixer grinders and laptops.

The Election Commission is also likely to take a call on removing the AIADMK symbol from the government buses. Tamil Nadu is likely to go on polls on April 24 for 39 seats.
