Police to Conduct DNA Test on Chained Body of Swiss Woman Found in Delhi

Police are planning to conduct a DNA test on a Swiss woman whose chained body was found in west Delhis Tilak Nagar last week. Family members may not come for identification.

In a shocking incident that has left the nation stunned, Delhi police are set to conduct a DNA test on a Swiss woman named Nina Berger whose chained and decomposed body was discovered in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar last week. The gruesome discovery has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting an alarming case of violence against foreign nationals.

DNA test

The deceased woman, estimated to be around 30 years old, was found near a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) school with her limbs tied by metal chains. The police have arrested Gurpreet Singh in connection with this heinous crime, who confessed to killing Berger and disposing her body. It has emerged that Singh deleted all his conversations with Berger from his two mobile phones prior to being apprehended by law enforcement.

Victim's Background and Suspect's Motive

According to police sources, Berger was employed at a law firm in Switzerland. Her locked iPhone was recovered but remains inaccessible; cyber experts have been roped in for assistance. Through investigation into Singh’s mobile phones, it came to light that he had been communicating with several foreign women under the guise of offering them gemstones for their wellness and prosperity. This same ruse is believed to have lured Berger from Switzerland to Delhi.

Suspect’s Interrogation

Digging deeper into Singh’s motives during interrogation revealed an unrequited love angle – he intended on marrying Berger but she declined his proposal. On October 11th at Singh’s behest, she arrived in Delhi and lodged herself at a west Delhi hotel.

Forensic Investigation & Legal Proceedings

In their quest for justice for Nina Berger, investigators have seized numerous documents and belongings from Singh which may prove crucial when matched with the DNA samples extracted from the body. A post-mortem examination is slated to be conducted by a panel of doctors, pending approval from the Swiss embassy.

Family's Reluctance & Further Investigation

The victim's family has expressed unwillingness to travel to Delhi for identification of the body. Forensic experts have collected blood and other evidence from the Hyundai Santro car that was allegedly used for dumping Berger’s chained body. Despite Singh’s attempts at misdirection, he remains under rigorous interrogation. On Wednesday, a court extended his police custody by five days.

The Family Angle

Singh’s father, involved in gemstones and astrology business like his son, is yet to be questioned as he is currently abroad while other family members have already been interrogated.

In conclusion, this chilling crime has not only exposed an alarming level of violence against foreign nationals but also highlighted potential threats posed by online interactions with strangers. The case serves as a grim reminder of the importance of personal safety both in real life and virtual world. As investigations continue into this shocking murder case, one can only hope that justice will be served swiftly for Nina Berger.
