The Ministry of External Affairs has firmly rejected online claims that United States warships used Indian ports to mount attacks on Iran, describing the reports as fabricated. Officials stressed that the allegations aired by US network One America News had no basis. The government also urged people in India to treat such circulating messages with caution.

The denial came from the official MEA FactCheck handle on social media on 4 March 2026. The account called the charge that American vessels operated from Indian naval facilities against Iranian targets completely untrue. The ministry said the narrative was misleading and urged users not to amplify unverified content.

The assertion spread rapidly on social media platforms, including X and Telegram, prompting debate and speculation among users. Responding to the viral posts, the MEA FactCheck handle issued a categorical rebuttal.
