Tragic Death of Delhi Police Sub-Inspector in Road Accident

While conducting a routine vehicle check, a sub-inspector from the Delhi police force was struck and killed by a speeding car. Another individual was also injured during the accident which took place early morning on the busy Delhi-Meerut expressway.

In a tragic incident on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, a Delhi Police Sub-Inspector lost his life after being hit by a speeding car. The accident took place in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area on Tuesday morning, leaving another individual injured as well.

The Incident

According to officials, an early morning PCR call reported an accident involving a police officer. Sub-Inspector Gangasaran and Assistant Sub-Inspector Ajay Tomar were on patrolling duty in their Gypsy vehicle with Tomar at the wheel. Around 5.30 am, they stopped a Bolero pick-up car for routine checking at NH-9.

Gangasaran and Ramgopal, the driver of the pick-up truck, stepped out of their respective vehicles for the inspection process. As they stood behind the pick-up truck inspecting it, an unexpected tragedy struck. A Honda Amaze car came speeding from Ghaziabad side towards Sarai Kale Khan and rammed into them from behind.

The Aftermath

Ajay Tomar along with Rajkumar - helper to Ramgopal - rushed both Gangasaran and Ramgopal to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital immediately after the incident occurred. Despite best efforts by medical professionals, Gangasaran succumbed to his injuries during treatment while Ramgopal survived but was seriously injured.

Gangasaran is survived by his wife and five children who are left grieving this sudden loss of their loved one. On the other hand, Ramgopal who resides in Outer Delhi's Nangloi area was later sent to Safdarjung Hospital due to severity of his injuries.

Investigation Underway

The police have initiated an investigation into this unfortunate incident which has claimed one life and severely injured another. The identity of the driver of the speeding Honda Amaze is yet to be ascertained and brought to justice. This incident brings into light, once again, the dire need for stricter traffic rules and adherence by citizens to prevent such tragic incidents.
