Delhi Police steps up probe into Sultanpuri horror; Blood samples of 5 accused sent to forensic lab
New Delhi, Jan 03: Delhi Police Special CP Shalini Singh visited Janauti village in the wee hours of Tuesday as part of her investigations into the death of a 20-year-old woman who was dragged by car for few kilometres, ANI reported.
On the direction of Home Minister Amit Shah, the ministry has sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police on the gruesome death of a woman in outer Delhi's Kanjhawala, officials said on Monday.
The Delhi Police has been under fire for allegedly trying to bury case, even as top cop Sanjay Arora assured the citizens of a strictest action against the five accused.

The Delhi Police has constituted an inquiry committee, headed by Special Commissioner Shalini Singh, and asked her to submit a report as early as possible in connection with the incident.
A senior police officer said that as part of the inquiry, Singh with her team on Monday night visited the crime scene and inspected the stretch of road in outer Delhi, where the woman was dragged by a car after she got stuck under it. According to PTI reports, the team's primary responsibility is to do an analysis of the stretch and suggest improvements to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
It will also be looking if all Standard Operating Procedures were followed by the police and whether they responded in time to the incident, and on the basis of the outcome, assign responsibility.
''After it has done its analysis and recorded statements of police personnel who were the first responders, a detailed report will be submitted which may also include suggestions such as if extra lights, patrolling vehicles, and CCTVs need to be installed along the stretch,'' said a source.

Autopsy report likely today
Police on Monday said the woman who died after her two-wheeler was hit by a car in outer Delhi was dragged 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala under the vehicle and a medical board has been constituted to conduct the post-mortem.
As per reports, the woman was dragged under the car for over four kilometres, killing her. Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Harendra Kumar Singh said the victim's leg got entangled in one of the wheels of the car and she was dragged for around four kilometres. Her clothes got ripped off and her naked body was recovered by the police on Sunday morning. According to reports, the accused did not know that the victim was being dragged by their car. Later, when they got to know about it, they got scared. They then removed the body from the vehicle and fled away.
Blood samples of all 5 accused sent to FSL team to ascertain alcohol use
The blood samples of all the five accused in the heinous case, have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to examine alcohol use, an ANI report said on Tuesday. The post-mortem of the deceased in the Kanjhawala death case in Delhi was completed, informed Delhi Police on Monday.
Probe reveals woman was with friend on scooty before horrifying accident
A fresh probe report by the Delhi Police on Tuesday revealed that the 20-year-old woman who was killed in an accident in Sultanpuri, had first dropped her friend home. After this, her scooty allegedly collided with a Maruti Suzuki Baleno with five drunk men in it.
Police is still trying to ascertain if the friend who was present during the accident, or was dropped home before it.
FIR sates accused had borrowed car hours before incident
According to the FIR filed in the case, the five accused, who have been arrested, had borrowed the car hours before the incident which took place around 2 am on Sunday. Deepak Khanna and Amit Khanna took the car from their friend Ashutosh and later left the vehicle at his residence in accidental condition. The two told Ashutosh they had drinks, and that the car met with an accident with a scooty in Krishan Vihar area, the FIR sates, adding they later fled towards Kanjhawala. Police, however, said their medical report is still awaited.
Police found the scooter in accident condition in Krishan Vihar, Sultanpuri area.
A video footage is being circulated on social media where police are seen throwing reporters out of the police station area and later closed the gate.
All five main accused arrested
In a tweet in Hindi, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora said, ''The case of the death of a girl on a road in Kanjhawala area of outer Delhi is extremely tragic. All five main accused have been arrested. At present, many of our teams are engaged in investigating the incident. Delhi Police is in constant touch with the family members of the deceased and providing all assistance to them.''
In another tweet, he said, ''We are with them (the victim's family) in this hour of grief. I want to assure all of you that according to the facts found in the investigation, we will set an example by taking the strictest legal action so that such incidents do not happen again.'' A video purportedly showing the woman's body without clothes and broken legs has surfaced on social media. The footage has led to claims that the victim was raped and killed but police said it was an accident.
