Delhi jewellery burglary: six arrested after Kotla Mubarakpur shop break-in

Delhi Police said six people, including three alleged thieves and three receivers, were arrested over a jewellery shop burglary in Kotla Mubarakpur. Investigators used CCTV footage and technical leads linked to a vehicle, then carried out raids on May 18. Police recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery, cash, and other valuables worth over Rs 10 lakh.

Delhi Police said six people were arrested after a burglary at a jewellery shop in Kotla Mubarakpur. Police identified three as alleged thieves and three as alleged receivers. Officers recovered gold and silver jewellery, cash, and other items worth over Rs 10 lakh. The case relates to a shop in the Punjabi Bazar area.

The theft was reported on May 10 by the shop owner. Police said unknown persons forced open the locks and shutter. The break-in happened during the night between May 9 and May 10. The stolen property included gold, silver and diamond jewellery, along with cash, police said.

Delhi jewellery shop burglary investigation in Kotla Mubarakpur

An FIR was filed at Kotla Mubarakpur police station and an investigation began. Police reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas. Officers also worked on technical leads linked to a vehicle. Police said this vehicle was allegedly used during the burglary.

Police said the inquiry showed the suspects were planning to escape to West Bengal. A police team then carried out raids and detained the accused on May 18, officials said. Police later linked the detained people to the break-in and the handling of stolen items.

Police identified the three arrested accused as Masqoor, Baharul Sheikh and Anand Mandal alias Nageshwar. During questioning, police also arrested three alleged receivers. Police named them as Jahangir, Gulfam and Mumtiyaj. Police said receivers helped dispose of stolen property after such crimes.

Delhi jewellery shop burglary recovery of gold, silver and cash

Police said the seized property included 36.47 grams of melted gold worth around Rs 5.11 lakh. Officers also recovered 658 grams of melted silver worth about Rs 1.63 lakh. Police listed silver articles valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh and 23 diamonds or zircon stones.

Police also recovered Rs 1.30 lakh in cash and froze Rs 1.35 lakh in a bank account. Additionally, an artificial jewellery collection was seized. A toy pistol was also recovered during the operation, police said. Officers treated the items as part of the case property.

According to police, the group targeted jewellery shops and other commercial establishments at night. Police said the stolen goods were later passed to receivers. All six accused have been sent to judicial custody. Police said the recovered property was linked to the Punjabi Bazar shop burglary.
