Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Performs Yamuna Aarti and Announces Grand Chhath Celebrations for 2023

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently conducted the Yamuna Aarti at Sur Ghat, announcing that this year's Chhath festival will be celebrated along the riverbank with grandeur. The event, attended by many, included hymns praising the Yamuna goddess and a special ritual called Chunri Manorath, highlighting devotion and environmental consciousness.

Delhi CM Announces Chhath Celebrations Along Yamuna

Gupta stressed the importance of public involvement in cleaning the polluted Yamuna. She stated that her government is dedicated to restoring the river and has earmarked Rs 1,000 crore for this purpose in the 2025-26 budget. The initiative aims to engage citizens in efforts to rejuvenate the river.

Public Participation and Government Initiatives

The Chief Minister highlighted that public participation is crucial for achieving the goal of cleaning the Yamuna. Plans include setting up sewage treatment plants, removing waste, and stopping drains from flowing into the river. Gupta assured that the entire nation would witness a magnificent Chhath celebration this year.

Gupta criticised the previous AAP government for not fulfilling its promises to clean the Yamuna. She claimed that under BJP leadership, a solid plan is in place to restore the river's health. This plan involves establishing decentralized sewage treatment facilities and using advanced machinery like trash skimmers and weed harvesters.

Concrete Measures for River Restoration

The government has allocated Rs 40 crore for modern equipment to aid in cleaning efforts. Strict regulations on industrial waste disposal are also part of the strategy. Gupta emphasised that cleaning the Yamuna is not solely a governmental task but a collective societal duty.

Awareness campaigns will be launched to motivate citizens to participate in conserving the river. Gupta reiterated that restoring Yamuna's purity requires urgent action due to decades of pollution affecting its condition.

The Chief Minister's commitment reflects a broader vision of environmental restoration through community engagement and strategic planning. The focus remains on sustainable solutions and active citizen involvement to achieve long-term success in reviving the Yamuna.
