Rahul Gandhi had recently insulted a female journalist of NDTV by stating that she had a new owner. The comment was made after the Adani Group took over the media house

Two Adani Group-owned cement plants that had shut shop since December last year have resumed operations from Monday, following the intervention of Congress Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

"Our Govt is committed to working for the greatest common good of the society. In the 3rd meeting held with Truck Operators today, we have been successful in resolving the issues & ending the 67-day long dispute," the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a tweet.

This development comes at a time when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Adani Group of crony capitalism. Moreover he is yet to comment on the latest development.

It may be recalled that RahulGandhi had insulted a female journalist from NDTV after the media house was acquired by the Adani Group. He repeatedly told the journalist that she has a new owner. He went on to not answer the original question posed by the journalist.

What is the controversy about:

On Monday, February 20, the 67-day standoff in Himachal Pradesh between the Adani Group-owned cement plants and truck unions ended after both sides agreed on new freight rates.

Since December 15, the Adani Group owned cement plants in Barmana and Darlaghat had been shut as the truckers protested against Adani Cement lowering the transportation rates to Rs 6 per tonne per kilometre (PTPK).

The market rate reportedly is RS 10.58 PTPK in Darlaghat and RS 11.41 PTPK in Barmana. Both the cement companies and the truck operators have not settled the rate at RS 10.3 PTPK for single-axis trucks and RS 9.3 PTPK for multi-axle vehicles.

The stalemate came to an end after Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu convened a meeting of both sides. Following the meeting, it was decided that operations would resume from Tuesday, February 21.

The resumption of operations is Darlaghat and Baramana will help the state's economic, social and overall development.
