Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra-Led By Rahul Gandhi Attacked In Assam
Indian National Congress on Saturday alleged that goons of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) attacked and vandalized several vehicles of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam's Lakhimpur district. According to the reports, the grand old party is likely to lodge a police complaint against BJP's youth wing for the "targetted attack".
As per a source from the Congress party, the attack happened on Friday midnight when Congress' Yatra entered Lakhimpuri district.

An India Today report quoted Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Borah stating "Some men who are associated with BJP attacked vehicles yesterday evening (Friday evening) in Lakhimpur."
"Trucks carrying cutouts of Rahul Gandhi for Yatra were attacked and vandalised in Lakhimpur," the Assam Congress leader added.
He also accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responsible for the attack. He said this attack happened on the "instructions" of Assam Chief Minister.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is slated to cover India from East to West and pass through 110 districts in 15 states till March 21. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will address locals and try to woo the people of Assam to raise voices against the wrongs that happened under the Narendra Modi government and support the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA bloc) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The Assam segment will continue until January 25, encompassing a distance of 833 km across 17 districts.
