Congress Sounds Poll Bugle in Telangana with Six Guarantees; Rahul Gandhi Slams BRS
The Congress party has announced six guarantees ahead of the polls in Telangana, which include a monthly allowance for women and affordable gas cylinders. The announcement was made during a rally where Rahul Gandhi criticised the ruling BRS.
The Congress party has officially begun its electoral campaign in Telangana, with a series of promises aimed at enticing voters. The guarantees, announced on Sunday, include the promise of Rs 2,500 per month and cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500 for women. This announcement was made as part of a larger political rally where Rahul Gandhi launched an aggressive critique against the state's ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which he dubbed as BJP Rishtedar Samithi.
Commitment from Top Congress Leadership

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge along with former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have assured that these six guarantees will be fulfilled promptly once the party assumes power in Telangana. This commitment is seen as a strategic move to win over voters by addressing their basic needs and financial concerns.
Rahul Gandhi’s Attack on BRS
In his address to a large gathering in Tukkuguda near Hyderabad, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BRS by calling it the 'BJP Rishtedar Samithi'. He alleged that while opposition leaders were being targeted by government agencies, no cases were filed against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and AIMIM leaders due to their close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Culmination of Two-Day Political Programmes
The rally marked the end of two days of intense political activities including the first meeting of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee (CWC). These events are perceived as an indication of Congress' readiness to take on its rivals head-on in the forthcoming elections.
Fight Against Multiple Parties
Gandhi asserted that in Telangana, Congress is not just battling against BRS but also BJP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He criticized these parties for their alleged collusion, suggesting that despite appearing as separate entities, they are in fact working together against the interests of the people.
In conclusion, the Congress party has kick-started its election campaign in Telangana with a slew of promises and a strong critique against the ruling state government. The guarantees offered by the party reflect an attempt to address basic needs and financial concerns of women in particular. With Rahul Gandhi's pointed criticism against BRS, BJP and AIMIM, it is clear that Congress is prepared for a tough electoral battle ahead. Whether these strategies will translate into electoral success remains to be seen.
