Clash Erupts Between 2 Groups Of Royal Family Over Entry Into Udaipur Palace In Rajasthan

A tense scene unfolded outside Udaipur's City Palace when BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh, recently named Mewar's titular head, was barred from entering the fort. This incident followed his coronation as the 77th Maharana of Mewar after his father, Mahendra Singh Mewar, passed away earlier this month. The situation escalated into clashes and stone-pelting between his supporters and palace representatives.

The conflict stems from a longstanding feud between Mahendra Singh Mewar and his estranged brother Arvind Singh Mewar. Both are descendants of Rajput king Maharana Pratap. Videos circulating on social media captured the chaotic scenes outside the palace, highlighting the deep-rooted family discord that overshadowed the occasion.

A significant police presence was deployed to manage the unrest. Senior officials, including District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, engaged in discussions with both Vishvaraj Singh's supporters and Arvind Singh's son. Despite their efforts, no resolution was reached during these talks.

Vishvaraj Singh's entry was blocked following a public notice issued by Arvind Singh. The notice opposed the newly crowned royal's planned visit to the Eklingnath temple and City Palace as part of traditional rituals. Both locations are under Arvind Singh's control as chairman of Shree Eklingji Trust.

Denied entry, Vishvaraj Singh and his supporters moved to Jagdish Chowk, close to the City Palace. Attempts by his followers to breach barricades were thwarted by police intervention. The situation remained tense as authorities worked to maintain order amidst the escalating tensions.

In response to these events, Poswal assured that law and order were being maintained. He mentioned ongoing discussions with palace representatives and society members to address unresolved issues. Additionally, he noted that the district administration had taken control of the disputed Dhuni Mata Temple site.

The unfolding drama highlights the complexities within royal family dynamics in Udaipur. As tensions simmered outside the historic palace walls, it became evident that resolving such deep-seated disputes would require more than just administrative intervention.
