CBI must have good reasons to arrest Srinjoy Bose: Bengal governor

Kolkata, Nov 22: West Bengal Governor K.N. Tripathi on Saturday justified the arrest of Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Srinjoy Bose in connection with the multi crore rupee Saradha scam.

"The agency (CBI) which has arrested him must have good reasons to do it. Therefore, it will be premature for me to comment on that," Tripathi told mediapersons on the sidelines of a programme here.

Bose, the editor of Trinamool mouthpiece "Jaago Bangla", was on Friday arrested for his prima facie involvement in the Saradha scam on allegations of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of funds and deriving undue financial benefits.

The Rajya Sabha member was accused of "blackmail" by Saradha promoter and scam kingpin Sudipta Sen in a letter that he purportedly wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation last year.
