Two Arrested in MP for Stealing Diesel from BPCL Pipeline

In a significant operation, authorities in Madhya Pradesh have apprehended two individuals linked to the illicit extraction of diesel from a major pipeline owned by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The operation unfolded after an anomaly was detected in the pipeline's pressure on June 9, prompting an immediate investigation.

The decrease in pressure was first noticed in the pipeline stretching from Manmad in Maharashtra to Bijasan in Delhi. BPCL supervisor Vikas Tiwari alerted the local police about the potential unauthorized access, suspecting it to be the cause of the pressure drop. The police, led by Badgonda police station in-charge Lokendra Singh Hirore, launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

Utilizing sophisticated detection equipment, the team discovered that the pipeline had been compromised at a specific location, marked as chainage point number 565 KM, near Jamaniya village adjacent to the Hema field firing range in Mhow tehsil. Following leads and engaging with the local community, law enforcement pinpointed the exact location of the tampering.

An excavation revealed a clandestinely installed valve on the BPCL's main pipeline. This discovery led to the arrest of Kanha alias Don alias Jitendra Khati from Khandwa village and Anil Soni from Akoliya village, both situated near Pithampur. Additionally, eight other suspects have been identified and are being pursued under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 379 (theft), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property).

This incident has highlighted vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure and prompted a review of security measures around such essential services. The swift action by local police and BPCL officials has not only prevented further loss but also serves as a deterrent to similar crimes. The investigation continues as authorities work to apprehend all individuals involved in this elaborate scheme.
