Raosaheb Danve claims that some independents are on his party’s side and said that figures showed that his party was gaining in the BMC
"The BJP is likely to rule the BMC with the support of some independents," said Maharashtra BJP president, Raosaheb Danve Patil on Thursday. He told mediapersons that some independents are on their side and the final figures would be made known once formalities are finalised, he said.
The BJP won 82 seats in the 227 member BMC. The magic number is 114. The Shiv Sena won 84 seats while the Congress won 31, MNS, 7 and others 14. Danve said that the figures showed that his party was gaining in the BMC. "We may rule the civil body and some independents have extended support to us," he said.

The mandate across the ten municipal corporations and 25 zilla parishads are an indication that the people are happy with the party's governance both in New Delhi and Maharashtra.
Pankaja Munde resigns:
Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde offered to resign after the BJP put up a poor show in the local body polls in her constituency in Beed district. She said that she had already sent in her resignation as woman and child welfare minister.
Danve, however downplayed the issue. "I had a word with her. Victory never went to our heads, and we do not get depressed when we lose," he said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis however said that winning and losing are part of elections.
