BJP wants PM Modi to hold 15-20 rallies more in run up to Karnataka polls

In one of its hardest fought electoral battles, the Bharatiya Janata Party would rely heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

News agency ANI while quoting a BJP leader said that the party is hoping that the PM would hold at least 15-20 rallies in Karnataka ahead of the elections to be held on May 10.

The BJP which is ruling Karnataka will be hoping to return to power and will be pitching its election campaign around growth under a double-engine government the report also said.

The Prime Minister is likely to be in Karnataka this weekend, the first visit since the dates of the elections were announced by the Election Commission of India last week.

The report also said that the BJP are confident as they have a strong organisational base in Karnataka.

The biggest factor that stands out for the BJP is the commitment of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre which has ensured that peace and development go hand in hand in the state, the ANI report while citing a BJP Member of Parliament.,

The BJP in the run up to the elections had appointed Union Eduction Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan as its election incharge. Union Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya and Tamil Nadu BJP chief, Annamalai are the co-incharges of the party for Karnataka.

While Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai heads the party's campaign committee, the election management committee is headed by senior leader and MP, Shobha Karandlaje.

Last week the Election Commission of India had announced the dates for the Karnataka Assembly polls. The state would be polling in a single phase on May 10, while counting of votes will take place on May 13.

Apart from the BJP, the other major players in the fray are the Congress and JD(S).
