New Delhi, Dec 23: Cracking the whip for dragging senior party leader and union minister Arun Jaitley in the alleged DDCA row, BJP on Wednesday suspended its MP Kirti Azad.

The decision regarding suspension of MP Kirti Azad was taken by the BJP Parliamentary Board.

Meanwhile, Kirti Azad expressed anguish over his suspension from the BJP in front of media persons.

I did not say anything against anyone personally. If anyone is responsible for this, it is the party itself. What anti-party activity have I done?I have been raising this issue since 9 years, they must have taken cognizance of that before.

"I worked for the welfare of the party and if this party suspends an honest person like me, then just wait and watch what happens. There is a lot in store from me," Kirti Azad told media persons.

Reacting to BJP's action against party MP, AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal termed BJP as an undemocratic party.

"There is no democracy in the BJP. Honest voices are muzzled to protect corruption," tweeted Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, reacting sharply over Azad's suspension from the BJP, Congress leader Digvijay Singh hit out at the BJP for sacking its MP.

"Kirti Azad suspended by BJP. His crime? Raised issue of Corruption in DDCA with facts," questioned Digvijaya Singh.

Earlier in the day, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha described Kirti Azad as a "hero".

"Kirti Azad-hero of the day," the outspoken actor-turned-politician tweeted.

It is being understood that by taking action against Azad, the party has tried to send a strong signal to other disgruntled leaders that criticism of senior leaders in public domain will no more be tolerated.
