New Delhi, July 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah has discussed the floor management of the Lok Sabha for the no-confidence motion brought in against the National Democratic government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Congress. Discussion on the no-trust motion will start on Friday morning and end with voting in the evening.
Union Parliamentary Affairs minister Anant Kumar said that the BJP was confidence of winning the no-trust motion as it has the required number.
Shah discussed the entire matter of no-confidence with Union Parliamentary Affairs minister Anant Kumar, ministers of state for parliament affairs Arjun Meghwal and Vijay Goyal in a meeting in Parliament office. Besides these ministers BJP general secretary Bhupendra Yadav was also present. Sources said that actually the BJP too is trying to break the unity of the Opposition during the voting.
Parliamentary affairs minister Anant Kumar said that Sonia Gandhi must get her calculation right as in the past also her calculations were proved to be wrong. The BJP has the full majority in Parliament and will sail through the no-confidence motion. However, the opposition has made it clear that it wants discussion and voting is not their objective in this no trust motion.
The BJP has not only reached out to estranged its ally Shiv Sena who assured to vote against the no-trust motion but Shah also reached out to the AIADMK and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, who have 48 lawmakers between them, to vote in favour of the government. He suggested them not to abstain from it.
But besides the Opposition, some of the BJP leaders like Satrughna Sinha, Kirti Azad, Savitri Bai Phule, Ashok Dohre, Chhote Lal and Rajkumar Saini are being wood by the opposition to vote for the no-trust motion. Sources in the BJP are confident about everyone except Savitri Bai Phule. Sources said that the BJP is aggressively working for it and it wants to break the unity of Opposition and this message of broken unity of the Opposition to travel to people of the country.
