BJP Delegation Engages with Jammu Police to Discuss Public Safety and Law Enforcement Issues

A BJP delegation met with Jammu police officials to address concerns about public safety, drug trafficking, and law enforcement. They advocated for improved policing and community engagement.

A delegation from the BJP met with senior police officials to discuss pressing issues such as public safety, law and order, drug trafficking, and cattle smuggling. Led by Sham Lal Sharma, a former minister, the nine-member group urged for intensified efforts to address these concerns. They met with Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, to present their suggestions.

The meeting was described as constructive and focused on achieving results. Sharma stated that the BJP leaders conveyed their concerns on behalf of their constituencies. They stressed the importance of better coordination between the police and the public to enhance trust and improve law enforcement.

Public Safety and Community Engagement

The delegation proposed several measures to strengthen community engagement. These included regular public meetings, reviving mohalla committees, and increasing the visibility of beat officers. Such initiatives aim to foster better communication and cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.

A significant issue highlighted during the discussions was the growing problem of drug abuse among young people. The BJP MLAs called for more aggressive action against drug trafficking. They suggested conducting surprise raids in known hotspots and collaborating with educational institutions and NGOs to promote awareness and de-addiction programmes.

Addressing Cattle Smuggling

Cattle smuggling, particularly at night, was another major concern raised by the delegation. They argued that this activity threatens communal harmony and peace in the region. To combat this, they recommended enhanced night patrolling, establishing special checkpoints on highways, and using drone surveillance in vulnerable areas.

Additionally, the BJP leaders emphasised the need for improved coordination between police, traffic authorities, and municipal bodies. This would help ensure smoother vehicular movement and enhance pedestrian safety across Jammu.

Commitment to Law Enforcement

IGP Bhim Sen Tuti assured the delegation that Jammu police are dedicated to maintaining law and order while safeguarding public safety. He highlighted the essential role of public cooperation in achieving lasting peace and effective crime prevention throughout the region.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between various stakeholders to address these critical issues effectively. By working together, they aim to create a safer environment for all residents in Jammu.
